In 2005, the BN Vocational School (BNVS) was established in Beijing, as China’s first, fully free, not-for-profit vocational secondary school. Our founding mission was to use vocational education to alleviate poverty.
Over these nearly two decades, we have refined and replicated our operating model across the country, opening schools in Chengdu, Wuhan, Sanya, Nanjing, Zhengzhou, Dalian, Yinchuan, Lijiang, Meizhou and Leishan. We also went global, establishing a BN Vocational School in Luanda, the capital of Angola, Africa.
To date, BNVS has enrolled more than 8,800 students from 25 different ethnic groups, and graduated more than 6,000, while over 3,000 qualified professionals and volunteers have taught in our classrooms.
Supporting our efforts have been companies, institutions and individuals -- numbering more than 9,000 – who have generously donated their time, money and expertise thereby ensuring strong, robust operations, teaching services, and most critically our students’ learning throughout their three years of study and vocational internships.
